Last Minute Strawberry Shortcake Recipe

The ideal strawberry shortcake recipe for the last minute or for the lazy cook (like me).

Ingredients:

* Baking mix for shortcake or biscuits
* 1/3 cup milk
* 1 quart fresh strawberries
* 3/4 cup sugar
* whipped cream

Shortcake:

Follow the instructions on baking mix for shortcake or biscuits.

Tip: For very last minute strawberry shortcakes buy the biscuit in the store and just top with fresh strawberries and whipped cream as outlined below.

Strawberries:

Rinse the strawberries under cold water; drain well. Slice the strawberries in halves; place in a bowl. Sprinkle with the sugar; cover and let stand at room temperature for about 1 hour.

Tip: If it is really last minute, you can put the strawberries on the shortcake right away.
